Vitreoretinal surgery

Since 2004, the SAIF-OPTIMA clinic has been successfully treating eye diseases for adults and children. And for 20 years, the main tenet of our activity has been the struggle for quality in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, rather than increasing their number.

What is vitreoretinal surgery?

This is the most difficult area of ophthalmic surgery, where combined operations are performed for diseases of the retina and vitreous body.

The purpose of vitreoretinal surgery is to prevent vision loss and maximize the improvement and preservation of vision in patients with retinal and vitreous defects, as well as to restore the anatomy of the eye.

What diseases are we treating?

In our clinic, we have been conducting diagnostics, conservative and microsurgical treatment of the following diseases of the retina and vitreous body for 15 years:

  • Vitreous hemorrhage (hemophthalmos)
  • Retinal detachment
  • Macular retinal rupture
  • Epiretinal membrane of the retina
  • Proliferative diabetic retinopathy
  • Opacity of the vitreous body due to inflammation (endophthalmitis)
  • Consequences of eye injury
  • Diabetic macular edema
  • Age-related macular degeneration of the retina
  • Retinopathy due to vascular diseases (retinal vein thrombosis, hypertensive retinopathy, etc.)

Benefits of treating retinal and vitreous diseases in SAIF-OPTIMA

High-quality diagnostics, surgery and dynamic monitoring

Diagnostics

Patients undergo a thorough examination and the study necessary to clarify the diagnosis using the most modern equipment. In particular, this includes:

  • optical coherence tomography (OCT) of the retina and optic nerve using SPECTRALIS (Heidelberg Engineering, Germany);
  • ultrasound B-scan using UD-8000 (Tomey, Japan), which is intended to detect pathologies in the posterior segment of the eye.

The results of the examination are studied and analyzed in detail to determine further treatment tactics and the choice of the optimal surgical method. In our clinic, operations are performed on an outpatient basis. If necessary, operations can be performed in a dream technique with the use of sedatives

Ultra-precise surgery

For operations, we use an OPMI Lumera 700 operating microscope (Carl Zeiss Meditec, Germany) with a built-in RESCAN 700 intraoperative tomograph and a wide-angle contactless motorized surveillance system RESIGHT 700.

These technologies help us to control the course of the operation, and the ability to add a third dimension in real time allows the surgeon to carry out delicate manipulations with pinpoint accuracy and without complications. The speed of switching and magnification of the retina image with high resolution enable the surgeon to focus on the required area of the retina in a timely manner.

Experienced specialists

Vitreoretinal surgery is performed by Candidate of Medical Sciences Zahidov Azizbek Bakhodirovich, and combined operations, including cataract removal, are performed jointly with the chief physician of the clinic Saliev I.F., as well as with ophthalmic surgeon Mukhamedova N.I.

For the past 10 years, Dr. Akshey Kher has been consulting and successfully conducting vitreoretinal surgeries for children at the SAIF-OPTIMA clinic.

Quality of the consumables used

We use in our practice special disposable vitreoretinal instruments and high-quality tamponing substances such as PFOS, silicone oils and gases from leading world manufacturers, which guarantees a positive anatomical result of the operation, full fit of the retina and transparency of the vitreal cavity.
